Committees

UUCM operates through working committees organized into six categories and staffed by UUCM members and friends. These committees include:

 

 

Community Within

  • Membership Committee welcomes visitors and newcomers to the UUCM community and provides information about our congregation and the Unitarian Universalist denomination. Plans annual fellowship events including adult and intergenerational Potluck dinners and Circle dinners to build community.
  • Pastoral Care Network mobilizes caring people within UUCM to provide basic support services to individuals or families dealing with a difficult circumstances.
  • Welcoming Congregation Committee welcomes and affirms GLBT individuals and their families and conducts education in our congregation and beyond on GLBT topics.

Community Outreach

  • In addition to our local social action projects, UUCM also maintains
    important connections with the wider, global community.
  • Partner Church Committee focuses communications with our partner church in Szentmihaly, Transylvania (Romania), and identifies opportunities for assistance and cultural exchange.

Infrastructure

  • Green Sanctuary Committee informs the congregation on ways we as individuals and as a congregation can protect and care for our environment. This committee is part of our Ministry for Earth.
  • Property Committee maintains the church building and grounds, including snow removal, lawn mowing and repairs.

Leadership

  • Committee on Ministry tends to the relational health of the ministry of the congregation. They provide a confidential sounding board for the minister, director of religious education and members of the congration. They facilitate communication when conflict arises.
  • Leadership Development Committee nominates officers and representatives of the Church Council and Trustees of the Endowment, and assists placing volunteers in key positions, such as chairs of standing committees.

Resources

  • Finance Committee prepares and monitors the annual budget and acts on other financial issues.
  • Stewardship Committee promotes ongoing awareness of ways we can live our UU Principles in relationship with our congregation, local community and world. It also oversees the annual stewardship campaign to fund the operations of the church.

Spiritual Growth

  • Religious Education Committee assists the Director of Religious Education in planning the children’s religious education curriculum.
  • Worship Committee works with the minister to plan weekly services, music, guest speakers, summer worship circles, and special services. It also runs the Sermon Seminar program to train lay worship leaders.
