Rev. Barbara McKusick Liscord, Minister

Rev. Barbara was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist Minister in 2001 at her Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Portland, Maine, where she had been a lifelong member. Her ordination followed completion of her two-year internship at the UU church in Chelmsford, Massachusetts and many years of lay leadership in her church. Barbara has been serving with our congregation since August 2002.

Barbara earned her M.Div. with high honors from the Andover Newton Theological School. She also completed Clinical Pastoral Education at Maine Medical Center, Portland.

A native of Maine, Barbara graduated from Bates College and spent 20 years in the corporate world. Barbara is married to Paul Liscord and has two adult children.

Kim Paquette, Director of Religious Education

Kimberly Paquette served as our Interim Director of Religious Education for a year prior to becoming our permanent DRE in January 2010.

Kim earned her M.Ed. from Lesley University (2007) and is a trained Montessori teacher. She has worked as both a teacher and school director. Kimberly is also the author of a peace education curriculum entitled Pathways to Peace.

Kimberly and her husband Israel have three children, two Chihuahuas and two parakeets.

Cyndy Likas, Office Administrator

Cyndy Likas has been working at our church since November 2006. Before coming to UUCM, Cindy worked in three churches in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She earned her degree at Simmons College.

Sue Wahlen, Custodian

Sue Wahlen has been working at our church since April 2005, keeping UUCM spotless and continually moving furniture to accommodate the many meetings and activities scheduled weekly.

Elizabeth Foster, Ministerial Associate

Betty Foster has been serving with our church as Ministerial Associate since May 1997 and has been a member of our congregation since 1974.

Betty earned her M.Div. from Harvard University (1987), and is a trained pastoral counselor.

Betty and her husband, Bob, have three adult children, and three grandchildren. Although Betty has limited mobility with some speech difficulty following a brain-stem hemorrhage (1993), she remains a fully engaged member of our community. She is a contributor to the monthly newsletter and offers readings and reflections during occasional services.


Rev. Olav Nieuwejaar, Minister Emeritus
Rev. Jeanne Harrison Nieuwejaar, Minister Emerita

Rev. Olav served our congregation from 1976 to 2000. Jeanne, his wife, first served as Director of Religious Education and then was called to co-ministry with Olav for the last years of their ministry together in Milford. Rev. Olav occasionally leads worship for our congregation.

Olav and Jeanne served as Co-Interim Ministers in Cambridge, England and at the UU Congregation at Shelter Rock on Long Island. They also served as Co-District Executives for the New Hampshire-Vermont District of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

 

Jeanne served as Interim Minister in Springfield, Vermont and as Consulting Minister in Wilton New Hampshire. She currently serves as Interim Director of Religious Education at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn, Massachusetts.

Jeanne is author of The Gift of Faith: Tending the Spiritual Lives of Children, published in 2002 by Skinner House Books.


Laura Kennedy, Pianist

Laura Kennedy has served as our pianist since 1994. A distinguished solo performer, accompanist, and chamber musician, she has been featured in all three capacities on NPR's Performance Today. She has participated in many music festivals across the country, and has been a faculty member at the Killington Music Festival and the Ottawa, Seattle, and Hartford Suzuki Institutes.

Laura recently recorded two CDs entitled New World and Pieces with violinists Brian Lewis and composer/violinist Michael McLean.
