Most of our worship services begin with the entire community of all ages gathered together in the sanctuary. Lighting the chalice and opening words call us to worship. Everyone is invited to participate in the opening hymn and an affirmation of core values and intentions.
Candles are lighted with brief descriptions of the joys and sorrows they represent. At any time during the service, you may quietly acknowledge the joys and sorrows that you are carrying with you by coming forward to light a candle and write about it in a book. We sing Draw the circle wide…No one stands alone and you are invited to call out the names of people you are concerned about.
Children are invited to come forward for a Story for All Ages and then they proceed to their Circles while the congregation sings Go Now in Peace. The morning offering is shared with a local or international service project.
The prayer and meditation offer quiet reflection time. Our worship services are based on various themes relevant to human life, spiritual seeking and making justice. Accordingly, readings come from many sources -- scripture from the world’s religions, poems, essays and novels. The sermon focuses on the theme of the day and hymns relating to the theme are chosen for congregational singing. A variety of musical offerings are also an essential part of our worship experience.
Throughout the year, there are special services such as Water Communion Sunday, Music Services, Multi-generational Services and Flower Communion Sunday.
