Our Summer Services are lay-led, smaller in scale and less formal than our regular services. They provide a way to keep our connections alive through the summer. More aptly called "significant Sunday sharing," these sessions provide a time to share our joys, concerns, thoughts, and inspirations in a meaningful way. The leader usually supplies a word or phrase which leads to a group discussion that can evolve in any direction. There's no sermon and little ritual, but there is a wonderful feeling of nurturing our spirits by sharing our thoughts and experiences. We start at 9:30am each Sunday, forming a circle in the Founders Room (aka The Fireside Room). Our Summer Services are coordinated by Rick Davis 654-5875 or rick@schoolshows.com and Carl Olsen 554-5349 or amcjo@comcast.net. Services are led by Rick, Carl, Cathy Goldwater and other members of our congregation.

This is the first of a series of worship services utilizing the energy of the full moon to amplify the power of our intentions and prayers. The Corn Moon represents healing and abundance. You may bring something for the altar representing the abundance you’d like to offer and healing you’d like to receive or send. For example, you may wish to bring corn, a flower or a piece of fruit for our altar.

As we begin our new congregational year, everyone will gather for this multi-generational service of homecoming in our sanctuary. Please bring water collected during the summer to be mingled in our common vessel. Also please bring canned goods for our local food bank at SHARE. As we mingle our various contributions of water from the summer, each of us will answer these questions: Will I contribute the best of myself to this beloved community? Will I share my gifts adding to our abundance? What will I bring to the feast in which we all share. Threaded through the service will be folk tale, narrated and performed by members of our community.

According to Jewish tradition, the beginning of the world began with God’s creating human beings on the 6th day of creation. Regardless of our beliefs about the origins of the world, this is the season of many kinds of beginnings–school, fall sports, music and theatre projects, and activities in our congregational life. How can this time of beginnings serve our inner life and how can our inner or spiritual dimension serve the beginnings evident in our lives? We will gather after the service for a potluck lunch for fellowship and to celebrate the beginning of our capital campaign. Religious Education classes for children and youth start today.
