Youth Programs

Classes (referred to as Circles) for children, kindergarten age and younger begin at 10:30 AM.

The congregation, including children/youth in grades 1 and up, usually gathers as a community in the sanctuary during the first part of the worship.

After the “Story for All Ages,” children/youth and their Circle Leaders leave the sanctuary to begin their programs.

Parents and guardians are welcome to attend Circles at any time.

Little Lights (infant -  2 years)

This is a place where the youngest of our church community are supported in a safe, nurturing environment. Caregivers provide a secure place for play and children can begin to develop a sense of community.  10:30am start.

Chalice Children (ages 2 and 3)

 

This program is designed to help young children learn about their church and congregation while gaining a sense of belonging to their religious community and their Unitarian Universalist faith, through stories and play.  10:30am start.

Shooting Stars (4 years - Kindergarten)

Curriculum: Spirit Play

  • Based on Montessori techniques, this program allows children to experience sacred space and become a community.
  • Through the use of stories and engaging multiple senses, children can explore the meaning of life’s questions.
  • Children are given real choices within the structure of the morning. The program develops an underlying sense of the spiritual and the mystery of life.

This Circle begins at 10:30am.

Grades 1-2

Curriculum: Web of Life

  • Children will learn about the UU principle of respect for the interdependent web of all existence.
  • It seeks to encourage children’s natural sense of wonder and awe through experiences with nature.
  • Children will be going outdoors frequently.

Children start in the sanctuary and are dismissed to their Circle after the Story for All Ages.

Grades 3-4

Curriculum: Toolbox of Faith

Invites participants to reflect on qualities of our Unitarian Universalist faith such as integrity, courage and love, as tools they can use in living their lives and building their own faith.

Children start in the sanctuary and are dismissed to their Circle after the Story for All Ages.

Grades 5-6

Fall Curriculum: Amazing Grace

This program guides fifth and sixth graders through ways to determine right from wrong with a Unitarian Universalist perspective, and act on their new understandings.

This Circle begins at 10:30am.

Grades 7-8

Curriculum: Neighboring Faiths

This program introduces youth to the faith traditions and practices of other religious groups, through discussions, guest speakers, and visits to other faith communities.

This Circle begins at 10:30am.

Young Religious Unitarian Universalists – YRUU (Grades 9 - 12)

Provides an opportunity for fellowship, conversation, service, and fun for high school youth. YRUU participate in services throughout the year.

This group meets on Sunday evenings at 6:00pm.

Family Religious Education

Open to families of all ages and sizes.  This group meets on the first Friday of the month for a Small Group Ministry discussion, story, snack, and activity.  6:30 – 8:00pm.

On the second Sunday of the month, the group will partake in a a more social type of activity after the service.

The goal of this program is to allow families to deepen their connection to each other, and Unitarian Universalism, through opportunities to live our faith.
