Cultivating a Kind and Compassion Heart: Meditation Practices for Challenging Times (Online)

Delia Kostner, Ph.D. and The Worship Committee

This is a Summer Lay-led Service. Please note the earlier start time.

The ancient word for meditation, “bhavana,” literally means, “becoming” or “cultivating.” Thus meditation is actually a series of techniques for cultivating a calm mind and an open heart, necessary qualities for navigating through times of turmoil. During this service Delia Kostner will describe “metta” (loving kindness) and compassion practices and lead us in a guided meditation designed to nourish the heart and provide the foundation for the flourishing of a compassionate life. Dr. Kostner is the founder and guiding teacher of Souhegan Insight Meditation, a community based meditation group. She is also a practicing psychologist in Amherst, NH.
