One of our best ideas as a nation has been to protect the majestic wilderness and its resources. While we ensure the future of our unspoiled landscape, we can enjoy and explore them for spiritual as well as physical exercise. This service will celebrate this best idea as we look at our National Parks, Forests, Marine Sanctuaries, Grasslands, and Wildlife Refuges as places of inspiration and value, considering how we can carry on the long tradition that combines democratic enjoyment with responsible care and management of these cornerstones of our American heritage.
